Tsunemitsu Tanaka

Sept 28 - Oct 13, 2012

Thurs - Sat during the exhibition 1:00pm - 7:00pm

Marie Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Tsunemitsu Tanaka.

Tsunemitsu Tanaka expresses the various sensations he gets from the things he tastes and the scenery he encounters in the mountains. This is different from taking photos of scenes and places he believes, and it is very important for him to paint his feelings with his own hands through a process of going to the mountains and walking.

Tanaka says there are "twinklings" in the mountains, but they cannot be explained. The best way to tell about and share them is to draw them on canvas. Besides, the figures and colors seen in the mountains influence the brush and the expression of his works. By paintings as if he were building, Tanaka shows us another landscape of mountains that only he can see.

His mountaineering is not about the feeling of standing at the top of the mountain, but to experience the stages of going up and coming down. This exhibition is composed of his newest works and others since 2007, when he started climbing mountains. The exhibition space will be transformed into a mountain territory. Here the twinklings that appeared while mountain-climbing expression time and again are gathered.
