Akihiro Kondo

Nov 30 - Dec 15, 2012

Thurs - Sat during the exhibition 1:00pm - 7:00pm

Marie Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Akihiro Kondo.

Akihiro Kondo expresses the present world situation as seen through his eyes after digesting the past.

The depiction of himself in his works began with Kondo’s childhood. Through this action, the past and the present face each other and his interest in the society around him grows. He thinks social problems concern all Japanese of this generation and especially between real intention and stated reason in human relationships.

Kondo draws his works with fresh colors and focuses on himself in various situations, as if he, as an adult in the present, is reaching out to himself as an introverted and unnoticed child in the past. Since 2011, he has revealed the relationship between humans and society while making his work throughout his everyday life.

The theme of this exhibition is "Without Looking". It is a matter-of-fact and commonplace vision (view) of everyday. Nowadays, on the other hand, we are flooded with new things at great speed. In this world, which has left each person alone, who can imagine what lies in store for the future? This show is mainly composed of 10 new works chosen from Kondo's newest series.
